Way of Life

Being with Jesus, Becoming like Jesus, Doing what Jesus did

What is a
Way of Life?

A Way of Life is a simple framework of practices that helps us shape our habits and order our lives around Jesus. It’s a way of living today in light of who God is, who He’s shaping us to become, and the kind of transformation He longs to bring.

At Hill City, we embrace a shared Way of Life - walking together as a community, practicing the way of Jesus in the everyday places of our city, so that little by little we are formed into His image.

The Practices

As a church family, we’re committing to a shared way of life. These practices are not just ideas - they’re rhythms that shape who we’re becoming together in Jesus. We’ve outlined the nine core practices here as a guide, and we invite you to return to them often as we allow God to form us into His people.

Scripture

A people formed by God’s story in a world shaped by competing voices through the practice of Scripture.

Prayer

A people rooted in God’s presence in a culture of distraction through the practice of Prayer.

Solitude

A community of peace and quiet in a culture of anxiety and noise through the practice of Solitude.

Fasting

A people who hunger for God in a culture consumed by excess through the practice of Fasting.

Sabbath

A people who rest in God’s delight in a culture of striving and hurry through the practice of Sabbath.

Community

A people knit together as family in a culture of individualism through the practice of Community.

Generosity

A people who give freely in a culture that clings tightly through the practice of Generosity.

Multiplication

A people who make disciples and release leaders in a culture of self-preservation through the practice of Multiplication.

Witness

A people who live as a light in a culture searching for hope through the practice of Witness.

Design Your Own Rhythm

We’ve created a template to help you prayerfully design your own Way of Life. Think of it as a guide, not a rulebook - something that helps you name the practices that matter most right now in your walk with Jesus.
